The platform

One app for the people
your program made.

Alumni, athletes and staff in a single private community, scoped to your program rather than to a university-wide directory nobody opens. Nine modules, one login, on the web and in the app stores.

Why it is built this way

A program is not a university.

Horizontal alumni platforms sell one directory to the whole institution and leave a program to fight for attention inside it. Catalyzr Community is scoped to a single program, which is the level where people actually feel a connection. A rower and a linebacker do not share a network. They share a school.

The consequence shows up everywhere in the product. The feed carries your program's news. The directory is people who played, coached or graduated where you did. The jobs and the mentors come from that same population, which is why they get taken seriously.

What's inside

Nine modules, one community.

The feed

Where the community shows up daily. Text, photo, video and article posts, plus two admin post types built for engagement rather than broadcast.

  • Link posts pull the image, headline and description from any URL automatically
  • Weekly trivia with its own tab, so a program can run a recurring format without inventing one
  • Hashtags work as live filters, giving a game weekend or a giving day a home with nothing to build
  • Posts and events are edited in place, keeping every like, comment and RSVP already collected
  • Schedule a week of content in one sitting and edit or cancel anything still queued

Directory and connections

An alumni, student and company directory that reflects who has actually joined, not who was imported from a spreadsheet.

  • Search by name, position or company; filter across nine industries
  • Connections are double opt-in, so members control who reaches them
  • Members who have never signed in stay hidden until their first login, with an admin control to reveal them
  • A profile becomes visible the moment its owner arrives, with nothing for staff to approve

Messaging

Three levels of conversation, each with a different job.

  • One to one, between connected members
  • Group threads, named, for reunion committees and game-day crews, each with its own private feed
  • Broadcast, one-way to every member at once, client admin only, bypassing the connection gate

Broadcasts land as Announcements at the top of each member's inbox rather than as another thread to answer. Every send is logged with its date, recipient count and email delivery status.

Events

Game days, receptions, reunions and watch parties, with registration built in rather than bolted to a third-party form.

  • Create and host from inside the community
  • Members browse upcoming events, register, and track their own registrations
  • Filter by type or narrow to upcoming only
  • Event imagery and in-person tagging

Groups

Sub-communities that let a network organise itself instead of waiting for staff to organise it.

  • Open or private groups by industry, region or interest
  • Member counts, categories and membership management
  • Each group carries its own private feed

Mentoring

Alumni declare what they can help with and how much capacity they have. Athletes and recent graduates raise a hand. This is the module horizontal platforms treat as an add-on and a program treats as the point.

  • Mentor profiles with an accepting-requests toggle, so nobody gets asked when they are underwater
  • Find a mentor, request, and track pending and active mentorships
  • Separate mentor and mentee views with live counts

Jobs

A jobs board scoped to your program. Alumni post real openings at their own employers, and alumni and athletes apply. Real roles from people who share a locker room beat a generic board every time.

  • Alumni post roles directly, with one-tap Easy Apply for members
  • Filter by full-time, part-time, contract, internship or remote
  • Sits alongside mentoring and video profiles, so an employer sees the person and not just the résumé line

Profiles

Enough to be findable, and one thing a résumé cannot carry.

  • Photo, headline, location, class year and industry
  • A short video introduction tagged with transferable skills, visible to alumni employers at the member's own choice
  • A single low-friction prompt at login asks a member to confirm or correct one field, keeping the directory accurate without an import
  • Admins choose which fields rotate through that prompt and how often members are asked

Giving

A donation control that lives inside the community rather than at the end of an email, carrying your program's mark in your colours everywhere it appears.

  • In-feed giving, present on the screen members already visit
  • Branded to the program, not to the vendor

Read the roadmap before building a fundraising case on this module. Wallet payments and CRM sync are both still ahead of us.

Platform and administration

Turnkey for staff, invisible to members.

Configured per program by us, run day to day by one or two people on your side.

Per-program tenancy

Your community is its own environment with its own branding, roster, settings and content. Nothing bleeds between programs.

Three role tiers

Member, content admin and client admin, managed in one place alongside registration settings.

Configurable landing page

Your imagery and message, with registration and sign-in paths for alumni arriving cold.

Passwordless sign-in

Members sign in by email or phone with a link. No password for an alumnus to forget four years later.

Analytics and reporting

An admin console with analytics, reports, events and job management, company records and a removal and restoration log.

Light and dark modes

Both supported across web and app.

Native iOS and Android

Real apps in both stores, with push notifications to members who install them.

What’s next

Roadmap.

Six things are being built right now — CRM sync, in-app trivia scoring, automatic mentor matching, wallet and DAF payments, SMS, and the alumni map — and we publish where each one stands today. You would find the current state out in month two anyway, so here it is in month zero.

The list above changes because clients change it.

In our last release, every item shipped inside ten days of a client asking for it, and not one was deferred. Each traces to a request a client raised in a review session rather than to an internal roadmap meeting. Our release page is a public record of what was asked, what shipped, and what we decided not to build.

Next step

See it with your own roster in it.

A demo on a generic community tells you very little. We would rather stand up a preview scoped to your program, with your branding and a slice of your alumni, and let your staff click through the parts they would actually run.
